Mark Harding interviews writer Ken Macleod about his childhood friendship with Iain Banks and working across the genres of near-future science fiction and space opera.

Ken Macleod has written 13 works so far, most of which are science fiction. Originally gaining a degree in Zoology, Ken went on to complete a thesis on biomechanics. He is currently the writer in residence at Edinburgh Napier University, providing guidance and support for budding writers on the MA Creative Writing course.
