The Royal Scottish Academy’s New Contemporaries exhibition provides a platform for newly graduated artists to showcase new or recent work. The convenor of this year’s show, Eddie Summerton RSA, had the chance to go round the art schools and colleges and select pieces to be shown within the institution’s spaces, representing a variety of disciplines such as painting, sculpture, filmmaking, photography, printmaking, architecture and installation.
Arthur Watson, President of the RSA, details the gallery’s commitment to fostering emerging talent within Scottish contemporary art by providing £40,000 worth of monetary, residency, studio and purchase prizes.
The New Contemporaries exhibition is on at the RSA, Edinburgh, until the 8th April 2015.
You can see some of the work featured in this year’s New Contemporaries exhibition in our videos from last year’s degree shows at Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and Edinburgh College of Art.
