Curator Kitty Anderson introduces the work of Turner Prize winner Duncan Campbell. The work was first shown at Scotland + Venice 2013, a Collateral Event of the 55th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia, along with artists Corin Sworn and Hayley Tompkins.
Campbell presents Chris Marker and Alain Resnais’ 1953 essay film ‘Les Statues meurent aussi’ (Statues also Die), which questions the use and relocation of African sculpture. In response to this film, Campbell made the Turner Prize winning ‘It For Others’, which is a mixture of archival footage and footage shot by Campbell.
This exhibition is now closed.
