As part of GENERATION, and the Edinburgh Art Festival, artist Tessa Lynch responds to an ancient law that states if you can build a small dwelling on a piece of land and have a fire in the hearth by sundown, then the land is yours. With help from the local community, Lynch has been able to construct a simple building in many parts, and raise it within the grounds of Jupiter Artland. By creating this piece, Lynch aims to explore the ideas and concepts behind building and planning, and how the community can become better involved with the process.
Tessa Lynch’s structure will be at Jupiter Artland throughout August, with ‘raisings’ every other weekend in August and September.
