As part of Glasgow’s newest arts festival, Glasgow Open House Art Festival, artist Augustus Veinoglou presents his exhibition ‘Below The Spillway’. Exhibiting at 1 Royal Terrace, this exhibition is site specific and references the Kelvingrove, dream imagery and the old Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.
Augustus Veinoglou is an Edinburgh based artist, and received his MFA in Fine Art Sculpture from Edinburgh College of Art in 2011. He recently completed a residency at Raasay in the Western Isles which resulted in a group exhibition in Glasgow School of Art’s Mackintosh Museum. He is the founding director of Snehta artist residency in Athens.
Veinoglou’s work often appropriates architectural materials and strategies in a quest to rearrange, rethink and recharge space. He is concerned with ideas of immersion, entrapment and sanctity as the means of instigating calm and desire within poetically designed space.
1 ROYAL TERRACE is a non-commercial, artist-run exhibition space in central Glasgow dedicated to monthly solo shows by emerging Scotland-based artists pushing the boundaries of medium specificity.
Run by a two person committee, they seek to establish discursive professional networks for our exhibiting artists and the involvement of the general public through ‘in conversation’-events held in conjunction with each exhibition.
Below the Spillway is on at 1 Royal Terrace, as part of Glasgow Open House Art Festival, until the 20th April 2014.
