Jess Johannesson Gaitan speaks to author Amy Sackville about her new book, Orkney. A story of a professor who marries his student, 40 years his junior, and takes her to Orkney for their honeymoon. Told from his point of view, the novel never reveals his wife’s name, instead portraying his romanticised image of this young woman.

Amy Sackville is an author and creative writing teacher at the University of Kent. Her first novel, The Still Point, a story set in the 19th Century about a woman waiting for her husband to come back from an expedition to the North Pole, won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize and was long-listed for the Dylan Thomas and Orange Prizes.
